I experienced the same thing today. I resolved my error by looking at the Log & Trace viewer (Help / Support / View Log) which shows you the Eclipse log. When displaying a page using XPiNC, regardless of whether the database is on the server, the local client is where the page gets built. Errors get written to this log for local Eclipse processing.

My specific problem pertained to the display of an XPiNC and having the local rendering engine display as such, instead of as a web page. What I ended up doing was setting the database launch properties to load my XPage by default. It isn't as convenient as the Preview in Notes icon, but it worked!

Thanks for the reply. I have found the same - still can't 'preview in Notes', but when I set the client launch properties to open to the XPage, it loads fine.
